End of Active Obligated Service

Although I do realize that these past four years will follow me for the remainder of my life.   I still cannot get over the fact that my short military career will soon draw to a close.  The trials, tribulations, experiences, and individuals I've met, I hope to never forget, or should I say memories of some experiences, fade to black never to return.

Still, I cannot forget how the hinges on the berthing door sound when the door is slammed open at 3am  by a drunken shipmate who was out on the town... Or how the aluminum ladder wells sound while being pounded by boots during a  general quarter drill.  I know I will never forget the feeling of hearing the voice of the petty officer of the watch announcing "shift colors" over the 1A.  This meaning we are securely tied off at the pier and we can soon rummage about town seeking a good time.

The life and times spent during my service years, I hope will serve the better part of my memory for years to come.

Perspective from my 24 year old self, upon my end of  active obligated service..
