When I'm asked this time of year about what my New Years Resolution is, I generally shrug it off, and resign myself to the fact that things are going pretty good so I don't need to think about a resolution to improve what I feel is status quo, without the need for improvement. The fact is I need improvement in all areas as we all do, nothing is ever perfect although frequently we can perceive life as we know it to be perfect, on the outside, while on the inside, our subconscious is screaming to the universe for improvement. A resolution by its own definition is "A firm decision to do or not to do something." These 'firm decisions" generally last a month or so as I observed fitness clubs become overly packed out during the months of January and February leaving only the regulars to sweat on the equipment for the remainder of the year.
I feel that rather than a verbal resolution that is briefly mentioned in a conversation or two with coworkers or friends, the universe can better recognize a plan, list, or objective as its affirmed. I can use the example of my spouse in another entry, as she has executed the plan perfectly to date and has outperformed even her own expectations over the last several years.
Below is a brief list of some objectives that I will have printed a few times and placed varied places as a visual reminder of what what's important and what should be focused on throughout the year. Those objectives that are not met, will be revisited and carried over in to 2022.
In no particular order of importance, here goes.....
- Be the CEO of my own life (hold myself accountable for all that goes well and my failures)
- Surf more Bitch less
- Focus my professional energies into a leadership role
- Vastly decrease sugar intake. Sugar creates a huge inflammatory response in the body and subsequently health issues. I'm guilty of pilfering kids snacks now and again
- Create a market for my hot sauce, something that I've been told I should do for a few years now, but end up consuming myself and giving bottles away.
- Drink less Alcohol (liver issues run in the family, also a source of sugar)
- Stay focused on fitness
- Health and wellness being in the form of making more time for meditation and breathwork
- Get more rest, cut my bedtime from 10pm to 9pm
- Read more
- Write more in this blog
- Begin the preliminary stages of route planning, visa, and customs requirements for all the islands and the countries in the Gulf of Mexico for the trip late 2024, create a spreadsheet and begin to chart.
